Two compact days covering two extraordinary destinations — tree-climbing lions at Lake Manyara and the Big Five in Ngorongoro Crater. The fastest way to see black rhino in Tanzania.
Tanzania's two crown jewels in three days — the world's most famous wildlife plains and the world's most intact volcanic caldera. Big Five at both parks. The minimum recommended safari for first-time visitors who want the Serengeti.
Three iconic parks — Tarangire's elephant herds, the Serengeti's open plains (2 nights including a dawn drive), and Ngorongoro's Big Five caldera. The condensed Northern Circuit done properly with two full Serengeti nights.
The definitive Northern Circuit — all four parks including tree-climbing lions at Lake Manyara, a full dawn-to-dusk Serengeti Day 4, and the complete Big Five experience in Ngorongoro Crater. Tanzania's most celebrated safari itinerary.
All five Northern Circuit destinations including the extraordinary Lake Natron — an active soda volcano lake ringed by flamingoes and framed by the Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano. The most complete single safari circuit available in Tanzania.
Summit Africa's highest peak, then collapse into the Serengeti. The world's greatest two-act expedition — Kilimanjaro summit followed by the 5-day Northern Circuit. Single booking, seamless coordination, extraordinary contrast.
Tanzania's greatest two-act trip — 5 days on the Northern Circuit followed by 5 nights on Zanzibar's Indian Ocean beach. Domestic flight to Zanzibar included. The contrast between savanna and ocean is profoundly satisfying.
Every Northern Circuit safari connects these extraordinary parks — each with a completely distinct character, landscape, and wildlife experience.
Africa's most extraordinary elephant density outside Amboseli — herds of 100+ visible daily. Ancient baobab forests and the Tarangire River ecosystem. 550+ bird species.
Uniquely famous for tree-climbing lions — prides that rest in fever tree branches 3–5 m above the ground. Pink flamingo shallows, dense forest, and vast hippo pools.
14,763 km² of open plains — the world's most iconic safari destination. Great Migration year-round, year-round lion sightings, leopard in kopjes, cheetah on the open plain.
260 km² enclosed caldera — the world's highest density of Big Five wildlife. 25,000 animals including Tanzania's most accessible black rhino population. UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Every Northern Circuit safari gives you a genuine opportunity for all Big Five sightings. Our guides know exactly where to look and when.
The Great Migration is a year-round spectacle — the wildebeest never stop moving. Every month offers a different and extraordinary spectacle across the Serengeti ecosystem.
| Months | Where the migration is | Highlight spectacle | Overall game viewing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jan – Feb | Southern Serengeti plains | Calving season — 500k births | Excellent |
| March | Central Serengeti | Predator concentration at calving grounds | Good |
| Apr – May | Western corridor moving north | Long rains — green & dramatic skies | Good |
| Jun – Jul | Western corridor · Grumeti | Grumeti River crossings | Excellent |
| Aug – Oct | Northern Serengeti · Mara River | ★ Mara River crossings — peak drama | Excellent |
| November | Returning south | Herds spread across central Serengeti | Good |
| December | Southern Serengeti | Pre-calving concentration on the plains | Excellent |
While the river crossing season (August–October) delivers the most dramatic images, every month offers extraordinary wildlife. January–February calving is arguably more emotionally powerful than crossings. Year-round resident predators — lion, leopard, cheetah — mean spectacular sightings in every single month. We've never had a guest return disappointed.
"Day 4 of the 5-day safari — a full Serengeti day starting at 6 am — was the single finest day of wildlife watching I've experienced in 25 years of travel. Our guide Emmanuel knew exactly where the cheetah family was resting before I'd even finished my coffee."
"The Ngorongoro Crater descent was unlike anything I'd imagined. We found both the black rhino mother with a calf AND a lion pride with cubs within the first hour. The private vehicle meant we could stay as long as we wanted with no pressure."
"After summiting Kilimanjaro, I honestly thought nothing could match that feeling. Then on Day 2 of the safari our guide spotted the leopard sleeping in a tree 40 m from the vehicle. The whole trip — Kilimanjaro to Serengeti — was the greatest two weeks of my life."
