Climb Kilimanjaro in 2026 or 2027 — join a guided group
Group departures are the most affordable way to climb Kilimanjaro with a professional team. You share the vehicle, camp crew, and trail with a small group of like-minded climbers — while still receiving expert individual attention and daily health monitoring by pulse oximeter.
Every departure leaves from Moshi and includes all TANAPA park fees, camping fees, meals, KPAP-certified guide, assistant guides, porters, emergency oxygen, and your Uhuru Peak certificate. No hidden fees at the gate. The quote is the final cost.

Common questions about group departures
-
Group departures are fixed-date climbs where solo travellers or small groups join a shared guide team. The maximum is 12 climbers per departure. Your tent, camping equipment, and daily life on the mountain are shared within the group — which significantly reduces the per-person cost compared to a private departure. You still receive daily individual health monitoring and a fully professional guide experience.
-
Yes — solo booking is the most common way people join our group departures. You will be matched with a group of compatible climbers. We never cancel a confirmed departure, regardless of group size. If a departure has fewer than 4 confirmed bookings, we may offer to upgrade you to a private departure at no extra cost.
-
Peak season months — July, August, September, October, and January–February — typically fill 3 to 5 months in advance. We recommend booking as early as possible to secure your preferred date and route. For 2027 departures, booking now guarantees your spot before those dates open to the wider public. A 30% deposit secures your booking.
-
A group departure shares a fixed departure date, guide team, and camp infrastructure with up to 12 climbers. It is more affordable and a great way to meet other climbers. A private departure is customised entirely to your schedule and group, with a dedicated guide team, fully flexible dates, and private camping. Both options include the same quality of guides, safety equipment, and meals. View all Kilimanjaro options.

No technical climbing experience is required. Kilimanjaro is a trek, not a technical climb. You should be able to hike 6–8 hours a day with a light daypack over several consecutive days. Cardiovascular fitness matters most. We recommend 3–4 months of consistent training — hiking, running, or cycling — before your departure. Contact us for a personalised fitness assessment.
-
Our Lemosho 8-Day achieves approximately 92% summit success. Our Machame and Rongai 7-Day achieve around 85%. The overall Kilimanjaro average is 65%. The difference comes entirely from acclimatisation time and guide quality. Our guides log SpO₂ readings at every camp and make all descent decisions based on real data — not pressure from clients or schedules.
-
Cancellations more than 60 days before departure receive a full deposit refund. Cancellations 30–59 days before receive 50% of the deposit. Within 30 days, the deposit is non-refundable but we will work with you to find an alternative date. Date changes are accommodated free of charge where availability allows. We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering cancellation and emergency evacuation.
-
For most first-time climbers we recommend the Lemosho 8-Day — it has the longest acclimatisation profile, the most diverse scenery, the fewest crowds on the western approach, and the highest success rate. If budget is the primary factor, the Marangu 6-Day offers hut accommodation and the lowest per-person cost. The Rongai 7-Day is excellent for older climbers or those with any cardiac considerations due to its gentler altitude profile. Contact us for a personalised recommendation.
