Frequently asked questions

  • Yes. All Resilience Expedition day trips are private — your group has a dedicated 4×4 vehicle and guide for the entire day. You are never placed in a shared vehicle or group tour bus with strangers. This means your guide can follow your pace, stay at any sighting as long as you want, and adjust the schedule to your interests.
  • Absolutely — and we actively recommend this. A popular two-day combination is: Day 1 Tarangire (elephants, baobabs) + Day 2 Ngorongoro Crater (Big Five, black rhino). Another excellent pair is: Day 1 Arusha National Park (closest, no early start) + Day 2 Lake Manyara (tree-climbing lions). We offer a small discount for two consecutive day trips booked together. Ask for the combination quote.
  • All day trip prices include: private 4×4 vehicle, TANAPA-licensed naturalist guide, all park or site entry fees (including the significant Ngorongoro Crater descent fees), a packed bush lunch or traditional meal, bottled water throughout, and hotel pickup and drop-off from Moshi or Arusha. What is not included: personal travel insurance, alcoholic beverages, and tips for the guide and driver.
  • For a single day between a Kilimanjaro climb and an evening flight, the Arusha National Park day trip is the best choice — it is the closest park, has the shortest drive, and returns you to your hotel or airport by 17:30–18:00. It also has Kilimanjaro views on clear days, making it a fitting last Tanzania memory after a summit. For those with more time but limited days, the Tarangire day trip is excellent value for its wildlife density. The Ngorongoro Crater day trip, while the finest wildlife experience, requires the most time and the earliest start and should only be chosen if you can cope with a very long day.
  • Yes — day trips are commonly added before or after a Kilimanjaro climb, or in the acclimatization period before a climb. We recommend adding day trips after the climb rather than before, so your legs are fresh for the mountain. Post-climb, the Arusha National Park day trip is a perfect gentle recovery outing. For those who have a few days before climbing, the Materuni Waterfall and coffee tour is an excellent gentle warm-up that also provides some altitude pre-acclimatization on Kilimanjaro's slopes.
  • Most day trips are excellent for children. The Arusha National Park, Tarangire, and Materuni Waterfall trips are particularly child-friendly — the drives are shorter, the wildlife is close and visible, and children love the waterfall swim. The Ngorongoro Crater trip is very long (early start, late return) and may be tiring for young children. The Ol Doinyo Lengai trip involves extremely rough roads and is not recommended for children under 12. The Maasai village tour is fantastic for children — they often find the jumping dance and fire-making the highlight of their entire Tanzania visit. Please mention children's ages when booking so we can advise the best sequence.
